In the wake of the murder of George Floyd big promises were made about racial and economic justice. But as we face a severe shortage of skilled software and data engineers the privileged continue to capitalize on opportunities in tech while overlooked talent remains sidelined.
The traditional approach of hiring computer science graduates from prestigious four-year universities or HBCUs is simply not working in all communities. Job postings continue to go unfilled while gritty and talented individuals across the US experience the digital divide.
