Most conversations about funding black tech futures fall within two areas. The first area is raising capital for a tech startup. The participants in this conversation are often Venture Capitalist organizations and entrepreneurship support organizations. The second area of conversation is supporting the development of black technologists. Each of these funding areas is important to building a liberatory black tech future. However, they only focus on two pieces of the larger ecosystem and not the entire black tech ecosystem which includes access to the internet and access to computer science courses in middle school. Therefore, this interactive conversation will explore how philanthropy and federal funding/opportunities can strategically separately and collaboratively fund the building of thriving black tech ecosystems in cities which include tech pipeline, digital infrastructure (internet access), venture, digital equity, etc.
